How Self Driving Cars are the Future of Transportation

#artificialintelligence

With the advent of self driving cars, the future of transportation is looking very different than it did even just a few years ago. These cars have the potential to revolutionize the way we get around, making travel safer, more efficient, and more accessible for everyone. In this article, we'll explore how self driving cars are changing the landscape of transportation and what the future may hold for this technology. Self driving cars are the future of transportation. They are cars that drive themselves, using sensors and artificial intelligence to navigate the world around them.

Driverless Vehicles: The Socioeconomic Effects and Future of Autonomous Technology

Note: This article was originally published as an essay for an ethics class. I have decided to keep it in the same format given the sources used. It was originally written sometime in 2015. Quite interesting to observe similarities, differences, and growth in just the short span of 3 years when it comes to driverless cars and autonomous technology. Thousands of years ago, humans roamed the earth on nothing but bare feet. Hundreds of years ago, we rode horses and carriages, even trains. Then, Henry Ford and the automobile came along to pave the way for one of today's most common ways of transportation.

Autonomous cars 'will lead to more binge drinking', study finds

Daily Mail - Science & tech

The rise in the number of self-driving cars will lead to more binge drinking as people stop worrying about having to drive home from a pub or club, a study claims. Researchers from Curtin University, Australia, say if a group don't need to assign a designated driver due to having an autonomous car, they will likely drink more. The team found that more than a third of adults would increase the amount they usually drink if they could rely on a driverless car to get them home. Lead author Leon Booth said driverless cars would cut drink-driving rates but increase the amount of alcohol drunk by the population. The rise in the number of self-driving cars will lead to more binge drinking as people stop worrying about having to drive home from a pub or club, a study claims.

Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe?

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence, or AI: what exactly is it? How much should we trust it? There are numerous questions we could ask regarding this issue, and many of these concerns were brought into focus several weeks ago when an Uber self-driving car struck and killed a pedestrian in Tempe, Arizona. The accident resulted in the first fatality from a self-driving car accident in history, and as a result, Uber and other developers of self-driving vehicles temporarily halted their testing. Self-driving cars are just one of thousands of different ways that AI and machine learning are used, and the way that we view this incident has implications for the ways in which we think about AI in the future.

How Do Young People Feel About Self-Driving Cars? - eMarketer

While the internet of things (IoT) is changing the automotive industry, most young US internet users still prefer a traditional car to a self-driving vehicle, according to October 2015 research. Nielsen polled 1,133 US children and teens ages 8 to 18. More than half of respondents in grades 3 through 5 said they prefer traditional vehicles. US children and teens in older grade levels also preferred traditional cars. For example, 59% of respondents in grades 6 through 8 said they preferred traditional cars, while 41% in that age group said they favored self-driving cars.
